YOUTH AT BOWLS
HOWARD
JONES,
Sir, — I confess I did not read your report very carefully in regard to this subject. Your reporter must have been touched with the exuberance of youth when he wfote that the motion to exclude mea under 35 years from joining the club was defeated by 41 votes to 2. The rejection of the motion was carried on the voiees to' 'use Parliamentary language. The "whips" in favour of the motion had not rallied their forces suffieiently, or otherwise there would have been a different tale to tell. Several members pointed out that the committee had the power to prevent the entry of "over-young" and that swayed the rejection of the motion to a large extent. Levin for its size has a larger proportion of retired men and the mover and the seconder of the motion were of the opinion that it would be unfair to deprive them of the opportunity if there was an influx of young men.
Yours etc., Levin, May 4.
