WARNING TO NORTH ISLAND SUPPLY AUTHORITIES
WELLINGTON, June 3. A warning to North lsland electric supply anthorities that until there was a marked change for the betteiiin the present hydraulic position, the continued excess consumption of power might only result in their allocations being again reduced, was sent to supply anthorities today by tho Electricity Controller, Mr. F, T. M. Kissel. His warning Jiollowed the compilation of the past week's figures which showed that, in spite of the increase of 5 per cent in allocations oi most North Island -supply anthorities, the consumption for the week exceeded the overall allocation by 1,240,000 units. "The week ended midnight on Sunday was the first week of the increased allocations since the supply authorities were ordered on March 20 td reduce their basie allocations by 20 per cent. _ , The allocation for the, week was 24,586,000 units' |nd th# cdiisumpi tion amounted .tq ^5,$26,P00 units. Lake Taupo was today only .6 of an inch higher than in the previous week b*ut there was 110 ehange at all iil the level at Lake Waikaremoana. The dams at Mangahao are still practically empty and consequently there is very little power being generated by the station there.
