AUCKLAND, June 2. "I am glad the detectives found me out before I got into trouble. ' ' This statement was made to Mr. J. Morling, S.M., in the Police Court by David Leslie Wallace (42), an engineer who made a voluntary appearance and pleaded guilty to a charge of using his dwelling as a eommon gaming house on Saturday. Wallace told the magistrate that he started off as an agent about four months ago. "I sat on some bets which looked like plums, but they didn't all turn out to be plums," he added. "But Saturday was the best day I've had so; far. I go to the races and I follow football matches." After advising accused to stiek to engineering in f'uture the Magistrate inflieted a fine of £30. "I think that's best," replied WallS.ce.
