Deceased, who was 69 years of age, leaves a family of four sons to mourn their loss, Leslie, Stanley, Charles. and William. Price of Milk Increased Owing to the decision of the Milk Marketing Division the price of milk in Otaki from June 1 was increased by a half-penny a pint, bringing it to 3£d a pint. King's Birthday The King's Birthday saw the flag at the Otaki S'tate School flying from the flag-pole, while a large number of residents attended various sports gatherings. Some went as far north as Auckland for the races and others to Wanganui, while many attended the wedding of a popular young couple. A Carnival Evening Members of the Otaki Cricket Club held a social evening at Raukawa on Friday, when there was a good attendance. It was an informal gathering and, speeches, etc., were dispensed with. Instead each one present had to sing, tell a tale, or in default pay a penalty. A number of tales, etc., were told to the amusement of all present. Otaki Band The- Otaki Band, "which continues to.make rapid strides, played a number of selections in Main Street on Friday evening. " The items were fully appreciated. Among winners of competitions in conneqtion with the band's shop day on Friday were Mrs. Cleland,: Mrs. Parata (Waikanae), Mrs. J. Bartosh, Messrs. Alex. Jenkins, E. Bevan, A. Denton, C. Eagle (Ohau), F. Stupples and Townrow.
