RAHUI JUNIORS SCORE OVER OTAKI
A match that proved interesting, and at times produced sparkling play, was • the one between the Rahui and Otaki juniors, which the former won by 18 points to 8. The Otaki lads lacked form, and while individually some showed promise, lack of training made others passengers. On the. other hand Rahui showed excellent combination and deserved their win. Rahui kicked off and first points came to Otaki, when Foster broke away. After making a good opening he passed to Gow, who showed a clean pair of heels to the opposition to score. Hakaraia missed the uprights. This reverse stirred Rahui into more determined action and soon Otaki were hard pressed and frequently accepted force-downs to save. Then Wilton went over for a well-deserved try, thus equalising scores. Rogers and Smith added tries for Rahui to bring the half-time score to Rahui 9, Otaki 3. In the second half Wilton went across for his second try, and before time was called Walker scored, but the tries were not converted. Before the completion of the game Taratoa scored for Otaki and Webster, by a fhie kick, added the major points. Phillips scored a further try for Rahui, who thus won by 18 points to 8. Mr. J. Bryant was referee.
