COST OF REHABILITATION
CHRISTCHURCH, May 28.. Rehabilitation might eventually ifivolve an outlay of £150,000,000, said Mr. C. F. Skixxxxer today. This intorxnation, lxe said, had been given at a recexit meeting of the -Rehabilitation Board. The report sliowed that to tne end of March authorisations for all re' habilitation purposes totalled £47,122,418 of whieh £35,713,646 was for loan authorisations, £7,325,193 for the pui'ehase and development of land for servieernen settlement, and £390,295 for the assistanee of Maoxi ex-servieemen apart from Ihe aid given the Maorxs through ehannels open to Maori and pakeha alike. The Minister pointed out the remarkably low sum written off which amounted to only £6300 in all and more than £300 of it in business loans.
