By this afternoon, xio new man 'had returned to duty. There .were no aequisitxons to the staif by last evexxing, and the numbers of regular exxxployees remain . virtually unchanged from the position on Tuesday evenixxg, when slightly more than a third of the fornxer staff of ■ 210 mexx had returned. There was a general ixxdecision abotit the position today, and dxsappointment at the poor response from some seetions of unionists to the arrangement made on May 13 to return to work as a goVerning eondxtion for resuining the speeial clainxs tribunal -was expressed In aniofi circles as well as by the employ ers. There was 110 sitting of the tribtxilat, Whieh might have continued had the men slxown signs of retux'iiing in appreeiable numbers, and there is no ixldieation of when there will be a resumptioix. In an attexxipt to free the floating doek, eonerete is being used for patehIng the Wanganella to see whetlxer the ship ean.be 'moved without the metal work originally iutended. With boilernxakers aixd welders still absent froffx tlx'e job in sufficiont numbers, the makeshift work has been made necessary. There is a possibility of xxxoving the Wanganella from the doek early np.xt weelc if the xxxeasures prove successfui.
