RECORD ENTRIES FOR SHEEP DOG TRIALS

DANNEVIRKE, May 23. The North Island and New Zealand sheep dog trials, which are to be held at Dannevirke starting on June 2, have received record entries, there being 175 in the long head, 174 in the short head, and 117 in the huntaway, making 466 entries altogether. Entries have been received from all over New Zealand. The judges will be Mr. M. A. Matheson (Middlemarch) for the long head, Mr. Fraser Smith (Awakino) for the short head, and Mr. F. Tong (Puketapu, Hawke's Bay) for the huntaway. Accommodation in ; Dannevirke has been taxed to _full '' c&pacity 'and it might take t§n days to complete the events.
