MUSICAL EVENING
MUNICIPAL BAND VISITS TRAINING CENTRE The Levin Municipal Band on Monday hight visited the Boys' Training Centre, where. a programme cbmprising light music and popular hymns was presented. tmrihg the eVenifig a party of Maori boys entertained • with action songs and hakas, and as a final number the Maori farewell song. At the conclusion, Mr. Abbott said that several of the boys had requested to be allowed the privilege of expressi'ng the thanks of Ihe staff and boys to the band, and this was most ably done by ohfe of them. When thanking the members of the centre for the appreciative hearing accorded the band, the conductor, Mr. G. R. Lester, made special mention of the work the centre had performed for the band, ahd acborded them a special vdte of thariks for the provisioil of supper. Replying; Mr. E. J. Stanley, manager, said it was a pleasure to the boys to assist the band, and that those responsible for the supper were the lady members of the staff. He cdlled fof a hearty Vbte bf thanks for them, tliis being carried by acclamatioh.
