delivery expected shortly Arrangements for the delivery of Shannon's new fire engine are well in hand. The secretary • of the Shannon Voluriteer Fire Brigade, Mr. G. McEwen, '"has handed the borough council a cheque for £6ob with which - to purchase the machine on behalf of the :brigade. In an interview yesterday after-. "noon, ' the town clerk, Mr. J. T. . Bovis, stated that the order has been placed for- the machine. In a letter acknowledging the order, the Wellington motor firm advised that the work ' of making up the machine and fitting the pump and other equipment was cdmpleted, and the painting and signwriting was now under way. When the machine is ready, representatives of the fire brigade will visit Wellington and carry out an inspection of the engine before taking delivery.. It is expected that the machine will be in Shannon within the next week or so.
