FRANCE PLANS AN ARMY FOR ATOMIC WARFARE

Received Wednesday, 10.40 a.m. PARIS, May 13. Plans for a mobile and streamlined French army, equipped for atomie warfare, were revealed by the War Minister, M. PauL CosteFloret, today. He said the plans •envisaged the defence . of France over the entire surface of the country, instead of the old frontier defence system typffied by the Maginot Line. M. Floret, saying that he di'd not believe atomic bombs woufd; be used' in future wars, added: "That does not mean we should not be pre--Dared for possible atomic" warfare." He emphasised that the- Pfench Army was counting ob peace lastingv fifteen years, which Would- enable the building up of the neeessary strength to . withstand a-ttack.
