BOWLING NOTES

PARAPARAUMU IMPROVEMENTS The Paraparaumu Bowling Club, which has been in existence for a coniparatively short period is making a'nother forward move by securing a fine large army social hall, fully lined, from Blenheim, at a cost of £450. The building is 48 feet long aTnd 20 feet wide, and will serve in various ways, including a social hall. This is certainly a move in the right direction, and the club is to be congratulated on its enterprise. Improvements are also being carried out to the green, which is being topdressed in its entirety. By the opening of next season the club expects to have a green second "to none on the coast. Otaki Club The topdressing of the O.taki Club's green has been carried out and the young grass is showing nicely. .With such able work as that at present being done, a good green. should result. Railway Green The green at Otaki Railway has never been better, and it is the intention of the club to continue play for some time. Today Barnett pairs were indulged in, while torhorrow a tournament will be held. For this many outside clubs have signified their intention to take part, and interesting games should result. Raumati Club This club's green has received a good deal of attention.Xhe green - keeper and energetic members being fully alive to the needs of bowlers. It is expected that the club's membership will be such that a second green will have to be considered. Waikanae Club The • newly-formed Waikanae Club, although not much in the limelight since the laying down of its green, hopes next season to give it a boost and to arrange for outside matches. • It hopes to take part in competitions and as there are some very fine players among the members, the club should give a good account of itself.
