Reports" that the Auckland Tracles -Council has suggested to the natioual council of the "Federation of Laoour that a one-day -.general strike be held throughout New'-Zealandj with demoustrations in the principal cities, would be neither confrrmed nor denied l y a prominent member of the Tra.tes Council today. "I have no eomment to make," he said. It has been stated in certaio quarters that the one-dav strike suggest.ion was contained in a recommemiation to the national council to organise Tade union action throughout the countrv to force support for the proposml wages application to the Arbitration Court, claiming a general increase of £1 per week. ,
