HASTINGS, April 30. Quality store slieep again sold on a strong market at Stortford Lodge today wheii a short yarding of 6000 head was yarded. Top price of tlio season of 29s ld was obtained for shorn wether lambs, this figure being paid for a particularly attractive draft. Other good shorn wether lambs sold at t'roin 27s lld to 28s 3d. A^alues for small grown wether lambs off shears ranged from 22s 6d to 23s, medium to good woolly wether lambs making 26s Gd t.o 28s 6d. femali ewe lambs sold at 24s and small Down eross lambs at 23s 9d. Wethers again commanded attention, being quoted at from 32s Gd to 33s. Small two-tooth ewes realised 27s ld, five and six-year ewes 26s and six-year ewes 22s. Top priees of the season were paid for both wether s and ewes in the fat sheep seetion. Competition was strong and values generally advanced by ls a head. Extra heavy wethers topped the season 's selling at 41s ld. Other heavy wethers made 39s 4d to 40s ld, prime selling at 37s 4d to 37s lOd, medium at 35s 4d and two-tooths at 3Ss 10d. The best griee of the season for aged ewes was 30s 7d. Other heavy ewes made 28s 7d with unfinished at 22s lOd to 25s 7d and medium young ewes at 27s lOd. Heavy lambs realised 31s 7d to 32s 4d, lighter 27s lOd to 28s lOd. The store cattle market showed an awaited improvement when a good beneh of buyers competed keenly for anything showiug qnality in the- entry of 770 head. It was the best sale of the season with rising two-year Hereford steers at up to £10 16s. Othei good 18 months ' steers sold at £9 2s 6c

to £9 11s and smaller down to £7. Cattle a year older made £11, 3Tyear steers making £12 and bullocks £13. Empty cows were traded at £8 17s to £9 10s. With an entry "of 225 head of beef, butchers were offered a better selection than for some weeks and as the result values eased a - shade to be about on schedule. An indication of the trend was given by the fact that export iuterests were able tc buy in. Several pens of heavy ox were passed in. A.A, bullocks made £22 6s and others sold at up to £21 8s Gd. Other prime beasts were traded at from £20 11s to £20 18s Gd and lighter at from £15 18s 6d to £19 8s Gd. Quality females made to £14 13s 6d*and cows to £14 3s 6d. Medium heifers made £11 8s 6d and unfinished at £7 11s to £9 13s 6d. , Prime 1 cows sold at £.10 16s te £11 3s 6d, medium £9 16s to £10 8s 6d and unfinished - down to £6 13s 6d.
