WELCOME HOME SOCIAL
FUNCTION AT MANGAORE The Maori queen committee held a very successful function in the Mangaore Social Hall on the evening of Saturday, April 12. This was due to the goodwill of the Mangaore people. At the supper interval, Mr. V. J. Bateman. thanked the people of Mangaore for eoming along and making the evening such a success. -Mr. Bateman then called upon Mr. J. D. Campbell, who he said had a very pleasing duty to perform. Mr. Campbell thanked ' the Maori committee for arranging the function and extended a welcome to Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay, who are newcomers to Mangaore, and also extended a sincere welcome to three of Mangaore's servicemen, Messrs. R. Beech, J. Mitchell and D. Elvines, who had returned to the village after serving with the arrried forces overseas. On behalf of the Shannon Returned Services Association, Mr. S. W. Barber stated that it was indeed a pleasure to extend a welcome. home to these three Mangaore boys. The servicemen- suitably replied.
