BAND CONTEST PRIZE MONEY
Eeceived Thursday, 11.52 p.m. SYDNEY, April 10. Pmnds of tlie Auckland and Wellington Waterside Unions are expected to be aniong the 50 to compete for the world 's record prize money of £2000 at a contest connected with Newcastle's 150th anniversary celebrations. The secretary of the New South Wales Band Association, Mr. F. A. Johnson, said additional New Zealand bands to those named might also compete. The contest should be the greatest ever held in the Southern Hemisphere. Arrangements are being made at Newcastle to accominodate 1S00 bandsmen in marquees.
