OTAKI-RAHUI DRAW WITH PETONE The first football match of the season was played at Otaki on Saturday when Otaki-Rahui drew with Petone, six all. The game was a splendid one, the result being in doubt till the final whistle. Players were not in firstclass condition, but it was really wonderful. the way they stood up to the hard and fast game. Both teams were on the light sid'e, but showed a good knowledge of the rules, packed well and passed splehdidly. There was no score in the first half, and it was well into the second spell before the* fleet-footed Wilkins broke away to score a welldeserved try and open Petone's account. Jones failed to add the major points. Later Ramsbottom went over the line to score for Otaki, but Henry missed the uprights. Well into the second spell Wilkins went over for his second try, but Jones failed at goal. Within a minute of the finish of the game Otaki were awarded a free kick and Arda Hakaraia sent the , ball between the uprights to bring the score to sixall. Mr. MaVtin was referee and the game was witnessed by a large and interested crowd of spectators.
