CHINAMAN BATTERED AND ROBBED
BRUTAL ASSAULT WHILE ASLEEP - IN BED A case of robbery with violence occurred in Otaki on Sunday nighfc when intruders broke into a house, brutally attacked an elderly Chinaman, Kong Fook, aged 87 years, and stole £55 in money. The victim bf the assault was asleep in bed when the intruders entered the hous^. He was battered over the head and face _with some blunt instrument, and is at present in the Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition. He is believed to have a broken not# and a fractured skull.
