MANAWATU LEAVE CUP IN NAPIER

NAPIER, April 8. As a result of Manawatu forfeiting the game with Hawke's Bay at Napier yesterday, when the team .valked off the field, the Manawatu laptain, W. E. Norris, before his departure for Palmerston North this morning, stated that his team was not taking the cup back to 'Vlanawatu, the trophy having been ieft with the secretary of the Hawke's Bay Association. It is thought probable that it might be forwarded to the New Zealand Council for a decision. "The reason for my decision to terminate the game yesterday was that the decisions of. one umpire were so obviously wrong that the game was developing into a farce," Norris stated. "The game could' have been saved by a cha-nge of umpires, but failing that there was no point in continui'ng a game that .was not being played in accordance with the laws of cricket.
