Received Sunday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 29. Scientists attending the Institution. of Electrical Engineers' convention in London discussed pulse inodulation, a new system of radio communicatiou which uses the radar system of energy transmission. The Institute explgins that radar depends on pulse trans mission which, unlike steady continuous radio waves used in broadcasting, are brief isolated bursts of much energy. It is now found that streams of these puises can earry speech and uiusic on very short waves which are highly direetive, thus ensUring greater privacy . in eonversation. The new technique may proyide a beam syster of point to point telephone limits to supplement the pre'sent wire system aud even be used to relay television programmes.
