NIGHT DISPLAY ABANDONED
SATURDAY'S MARCHING TITLE S » * ' At a special meeting of the executive committee of the Horowhenua Marching Association on Saturday evening it was unanimously decided to abandon the dispiay to have been held at 7 p.m. next Saturday evening. The afternoon's activities will be held as arranged, commencing at 1 p.m. With a power cut-off from 7 to 7.30 p.m. and-no prospect of improvement in the situation for some little time, members considered that it would not be right for the association to use the high-powered lights on the Levin Domain and extra lighting it was intended to instal in the face of the call to conserve power. As a compensation to the 350 odd girls who will be in Levin for the day, the association decided to entertain them at a dance in the Regent Hall as soon as tea has been served. Ernergency lighting will be arranged for in case the blackout extends longer than the prescribed time. This dance will be open to the public at the usual charges for association dances, and all girls in uniform will be admitted free
