BAN ON SALE OF RADIATORS

SUGGESTIONS BY HOROWHENUA POWER BQARD That the sale of radiators shotild be prohibited by the Governmenu aunng the period of the present electricity crisis is one of four suggestions from the Horowhenua Eleccric Power Board to the ernergency committee of the Elecoric -Power Boards' and Supply Authorlties .Association. The committee met in Wellington today to discuss the present situation. Organised rationing throughout .he whole of the North Island during spseific periods, which could allow for an advertised schedule of cut-off periods affecting the various districts, was a furtner suggescion put forward. The board objected to a proposal from ■ Auckland that , water heaters should be completely disconnected. The board felt that by agreeing to such a suggestion it would be breaking faith with those consumers who had all-electric honies, besides which it was of the opinion that such action would resuit in a section of its consumers carrying the whole burden for the rest oi the jommunity. It agreed, however that radio broadcasting should be restricted to .he minimum.- "It should be the first to go," said the managingsecretary, Mr. R. A. Frederikson, when commenting on these proposals this morning, .and a concerted effort should be made to force the Government into action in the curtailment of programmes. "I am sure the average person would prefer this to sitting in a cold bath listening to hot jazz," he concluded.
