A builet jammed in ihe tubcof the rifie went through two inncr walls and hit the cliild. He was taken to Taumarunui Hospital, "where his lower jaw was found to be sniashed. | The bullet narrowly -missed tearing i fhe jugular veiu. An ojieration was perfornied'successfully, but the hospital uuthorities said the ehild 's condition was likcly to cauae anxiety for several days.
