WELLINGTON, Mar. 7. A spare tyre which fell from a truck crashed througli the vvindscreen of a sedan ear travellingv in the opposite direction and fatally injured a small boy who was a passenger in the front seat. He was Phillip Lees, aged 5 years, of 94 Moxham Avenue, Hataitai, Wellington. The accident oceurred south of Stokes Valley on the Taita Gorge' Road at 3.4U p.m. today. The ear was being driven southward by Mr. ilax Manning, 212 Queen ;s Drive,- Welling ton, who received injuries to his face. Mrs. Eose Lees, the boy's motlier, was also in the front seat of the car. The boy received severe head injuries and was uneonscious when admitted to the public hospital, Lower Ilutt, wliere he died at 8 p.m. Mr. Manning was treated and discharged. -
