STAR GALLOPS AT AWAPUNI
IMPERIAL, VOLTAIC AND GAY STROLLER The star gallops at Awapuni ye'sterday morning were those of imperial over seven, Voltaic over a mile, and Gay Stroller over a mile. Other pleasing trials were those of Langue d'Or, Yasda and Mesailliance, and of Arco and Broiefield. All the fast work took plaee on the ploUgh which was faster than for some time. ' Voltaic (J. Harris) and Theiolyn (A. Bowness) were among the lirst to work ahd they were away smoothly to run. the lirst three in better than 38 and the last five in. 1.3 3-5. That .was over the -fast stretch of-the plough. As they ran to the straight Voltaic drew right away to be well clear at the finish after running the full distance in i.43, the last three in 39 2.5, the last live in 1-.5 3-5, the last six in 1.17 2-5 and the last. seven in 1.30. Imperial (D. Gollins) galloped seven alone. He had a iight boy up but he moved without 'apparent effort, Teaching the three in 50 2-5 and the liuishing: line 'in 1.29 2-5. The last three is over the s'lovv stretch of the piough and Imperial cut the distance out in 39. It was a very impressive trial. Elying Orders (S. Waddell), looking none the. worse for his hard race at Opaki on Saturday, worked over seven with the pace increased for the last live in 1.6,2-5. He will not return to Awapuni after the Wellington meeting but will be taken south to Riccarton. Elying Ace (A. G. Waddell) was given three-q.uarter ' pace and then speeded up for the last three in 39 2-5. ... • Czarina (Rout) galloped seven in good style, being timed to cover the lirst half in 51 2-5, the last three in 42 and the full distance in 1.33 2-5. Ngakoti (A. Waddell) and Yandra (W. L. Aitlten) sprinted six furlongs and looked to be going to do better than 1.19 3-5 until Aitlcen lost his irons. Yandra fan about in the home stretch or they would have done better than 40 3-5 for the last three. Cincture and Theolateral were given useful pace wrork, and Brolga (D. Amey) and Arctic Circle (A. Bowness) sprinted three in 39 2-5. , Langue d'Or (J. Harris), looking a picture of lituess after Saturday 's race, galloped a mile with Yasda (Sellers) and Mesailliance (D. Amey). The pace was about 14 to the furlong to the three where Langue d'Or was trailing the other two, and Langue d'Or was home in better than 40 to be on terms with them at the finish. They rau the full distance in 1.48 and the three of them were going easily at the ffuish. . Rockanui (Aitken) and Oemo (A. Waddell) went away smartly from the seven and they were going strongly with Rockanui' shading Oenio at the finish after being tiined to run the last live in 1.7 1-5. - Arco (Sellers) and Broiefield (R. Saunders) were hnder a hold early and after 'reacliiug -the three in 1.7 they were not off the- bit over the last bit to eoiuplete a mile in 1.48 2-5. Gay Stroller (S. Waddell) travelled deceptively fast,.early in his trial over a mile. He was hqme in better than 40 to complete ku J.44 2-5 aud the last; live took h'rm* tj5)' which *was' -good.j H. N.
