Reeeived Tuesday, 11.25 p.m. MELBOURNE, Mar. On the opening day of tKe Victorian yearling saies, 94 lots were ^sold for 74,930 guineas, an average of 797 guineas. This -aho wed a decrease on the opening day last year when 80 yearlings sold for .78,175 guineas, an average of 977 guineas. That ' aggregate and average were an;all-time Aiistralian recofd.Top priee of. the sale this year- was for a chestnut colt by Dhoti froiii Sequoia, which brougbt 3000 guineas and was bought by- M i. S. L. Cajverty, of Maroona. Mr.- F. W. Hoysted -paid 2000 guineas .for a bay 'colt by Dhoti from Bon Cretian, Mr. W. Thompson; New South Wales, paid 2100 ■ guineas,. for a chestnut colt by Dhoti from Deli.'i and the Kooba Stud paid 2100 for a bay filly bj' Dhoti from Valorie. InterState buyers paid 25,510 guineas for 28 yearlings. Six yearling by Dhoti were sold for an average ' of 1858 guineas. Twenty-six yearlings brought „ fouriigure amounts as against 31 last year. A magnificent Helios — Miss Gallant bay colt brought the top price of 3100 guineas. The name of the buyer was not disclosed. A brown filly by Zaimis from Fission realised 2850 guineas. The buyer was Mr. Guy Raym.ond, owner of the Sfc. Albans Stud. ' A brown colt, Law Maker — Heart's Desire, was knocked down for 1550 guineas. A St. Magnus^ — Cykanne colt- was sold for 1550 giiineas. A brown colt, Balloch — Arachne (New Zealand) realised 875 guineas.
