MEETING OF COMMITTEE •A meeting of the committee of ihe Otaki A.A. and C. Club was heid on Thursday night, the president, Mr. Fred Edwards, occupying the chair. Correspondence was read from various quarters, congratulating ihe ciub on the success of its Anniversary Day meeting, while donations- of a substantial nature wereenclosed. Mr. Edwards reported that the sports had proved a great success, exceeding expectations both socially and financially. He regretted that persons who had made illicit onorance i.ad robbed the club of i about £12. These persons had entered by climbing fences on d,rferent parts of the ground. Despite this the sports had shown a fine profit. The gate takings ' had amounted to over £27 and refreshments to £40. while the.total revenue was £97 10s. Expenses totallea £81 6s lld, leaving a profit of £13. The dance had' brought in a sum of j £23 odd and after expenses of £14 j had been met. there was a credit 'of j nearly £9. With other items it was [ expected that the credit 011 the i whole day's activities would be £23. ! Their motor trip to the Otaki ! Gorge and other mr—es zi interpst-; would long remain_a memory cf one of tha happiest days they had yet spent. Apart from this outing, reference was made to the splendid way in which the sports had been conducted. The management, they considered, had been a credit to those in .charge. A di.xu~.ncn took place as to the j best day for the annual sports, it | being suggested that a date apart frcm Anniversary Day would be an advantage, as on this day there were several important meetings which attracted athletes. It was thought early'in the year would be the best time to hold a gathering, and it was stated. that. if a. suitabledate could be arranged. a number of outside athletes would take part. The question of holding further weekly sports meetings on the domain was considered, and it was diought that fcur more evening fix tures could be held. The met' er of holding ro?d race-. was considered. but it was pointed out that in the past the club fcrd run these at a loss, some £25 being paid out in prize money while the general public had subscribed less than £1 in collections. In view 'of this. the matter was held m abeyance. It was the desire of the Hutt Club to have an inter-change of sports meetings, one at Otaki and the other at the Hutt. A hearty vote of thanks was acccrded - the president, Mr. , Edv/ards, end the secretary. Mr. j Nil"3cn. for fhe able marner in which they hed carried out their i duties.
