ACCIDENTAL DROWNING
INQUEST ON VICTIM OF WAITARERE TRAGEDY A verdict_of accidental drowning was returned by the district coroner, Mr. J. S. Moir, following an inqucst yesterday on the death of Patrick Aylward, of Levin, the victim of the boatine tragedy at Waitarere Beach on Sunday. Statements similar to those published on Monday were made by witnesses. A high tribute to the action of Mr. L. Loomis, a verterinary surgeon employed by the Shannon Dairy Factory, was expressed by the coroner. "There is no doubt that his prompt and brave action saved the life of Mr.- Crighton, and it is a pity that his action in regard to the late Mr. Aylward was not similarly successful. The thanks of all concerned is due and given to Mr. Loomis." The coroner' also expressed sympathy with members of deceased's family, it was a ' most regrettable incident and had been a trying ordeal for them. he coneluded. Survivcr's Gratitude "I wish to express my gratitude to all those who gave their assistance after the accidont on Sunday," skid Mr. W. Crighton after thfe inquest yesterday. Everyone was most kind and I; am sorry I am not able to thank them all pergonally.
