GOVERNMENT GRANT FOR NEW WAIOPEHU HUT
TRAMPING CLUB'S APPLICATION The Leviri-Waiopehu Tramping Club recently made application to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, for a grant to assist in the rebuilding of its, Waiopehu Hut. Advice has now been received by the club's presiderit, Mr. N. M. Thomson, from the Assistant Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs, Mr. A. G. Harper, that a grant of £65 •has been approved by the Minister under the Physical Wolfare, and Recreation Act. This assistarice in the project will be greatly appreciated by the club. In response to the club's recent appeal for iron, a flne gesture has been made by Messrs. Harper Bros., of Arawhata Road. They have made available to the club all the iron from a large shed, ahd this will help very considerably in the construction of the hut. Members of the club will be engaged in a working bee this weekehd to dismantle the shed and- prfepare thb iron for portering to the liut site. Arrangements are now well in hand for the club's annual outjng to Kapiti Island on the weekend of March 8 and 9. The party this year will consist of 30. and there are still a few.vacancies for members or their friends wishing to participate in the trip.
