SATURDAY'S GAMES IN LEVIN
The third series of games in the second round of the Horowhenua Cricket Association's Hall Shield competition was played on Saturday in ideal cricketing weather. • Levin Beat College A College A were beaten by a margin of 59 runs in their match with Levin on the Levin Domain. Levin, had first use of the wieket and compiled 167 runs, Longton (-50) and Galloway (3-7) being the main contributors. McFarlane was the jnost successful College bowler. College replied with " 108, Sciascia (50, not out) and Lambert (25,) being the only double-figure scorers. Longton returned the good figures of four wiekets for nine runs. Narrow Win for Weraroa • Weraroa obtained a ten-run margin in their game against Old Boys. O'ld -Boys batted first and scored a tbtal of 109 runs, G. I. Sciascia (30) and V. Lynch (27. not out) being the principal contributors. Bowling for Weraroa, MeDonald to.ok four wiekets for 38 runs and De Castro three for thirteen. Weraroa replied with 119, Hudson (26) and Saunders (22) being the top batsmen. Weraroa had a very close call as it was not until. the final over of the day that the winning runs were gained. For Old Boys, Lynch took iour wiekets for 38 runs and Stevens three for 35. ■
