According to the Auckland Star, visitors, liad a great inniiigs on Saturday at the opening of the Auckland Trottrng Club's February meeting, which was distinguislied principally by the successes of the Holmes brothers. Alan and Morry (sons of the famous "Free" Holmes), who won five of the eight races on the pr^granune, Alan taking the Wairakei Handicap vvith Syinetra, the £1500 Otahuhu Handicap (chief event) and the final race with Local Gold, and the Mt. Albert Handicap with Sprayman. His brother took the February Handicap with Blackuale. All live winners returned substautial dividends. A. Holmes ovvns and trains Syinetra, wliom he also drove, but lv. McLennan drove Local Gold and Sprayman to victory, these two horses being trained by A. Holmes.
