NEW PHONE SERVICE WITH BRITAIN

WELLINGTON. Feb. 4. A direct telephone service between the United Kingdom and New Zealand is contempiated. Its establishment will be discussed with British officiials by Mr. T. R. Clarkson, Divisional Radio Engineer of the Post and Telegraph Department, who, with Mr. H. W. Curtis, Divisional Director, Teleeommunications, has left for London on the Dominion Monarch. Mr. Curtis and Mr. Clarkson will take part in diseussions at a meeting of the Commonwealth Communications Council. They will be associated with the New Zealand representative on the council, Mr. J. G. Young, said the Ppstmaster-General, Mr. Hackett,s yeslterday.
