BURST WATER MAINS CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEM Received Tuesday, 10.45 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 3. The start of Britain's "Great Thaw" brought chaos to the Lonucii Metropoiis Water Board. More than 2000 water mains burst in the London area. Plumbers worked all night to restore the water to hospitais and public buildings, but the board expect that many hom^s will be without water for days. Mobile water tanks built for wartime emergencies are being used in many districts.
