Work was allotted to various members and arrangements made to have the track in splendid condition. Two juilior running events were added to the programme, this being considered necessary on account of the large amount of interest shown by such runners. Mr. Fred Edwards, president, reported that arrangements were also being made for an up-to-date refreshment tent, where tea, cakes and sandwiches could be secured. It was reported that G. R. Batten, of Christchurch, would be seen in action at the meeting. He- was the junior champion in the 109 ard 220 yards in 1945, and was still leading the way to other eomperltors. As he comes from an Otaki family, his appearance should be doubly welcome. He is at present the University champion for 220 yards. J. Borland will accompany him, and as he is the New Zealand champion for the high jump, should also be an attraction. Already many entries have been reecived, and with fine weather there should be a record attcndance. All parts of the district will be strongly represented, while outside districts have promised strong support.
