SEVERE GALE RAGING
Beceived Tuesday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 14. This winter 's severest storm is at present raging over the entire North Atlantic. Even the biggest ships are labouring in a 50-niile an hour westerly gale and enormous seas. Luxury liners are being delayed up tfi 50., hours in their westward passages. Steamship oftices are flooded with inquiries and rail and air terminals report hundreds of cancellations on behalf of passengers. The liner America which is the pride of the Anierican passeuger fleet arrived in New York from Europe 60 hours iate. The captain deolared the seas were the roughest he had encountered in 34 years at sea. Sorne of thc waves wero 60 feet high. Iie had not had a good night 's sleep in the seven days the gale had been blowing.
