MARCHING TEAMS AND BANDS
ENTERTAINMENT ON SATURDAY The Horowhenua Marching Association's two Levin teams, Cale- ' donian and K.B.H., Horowhenua Pipe Band and Levin Municipal Band will provide an hour's entertainment on Saturday evening next in Bath Street West, prior to the appreeiation dance which is -being he]d by the Horowhenua Marching - Associ ttion to rais'e funds to help ' pay the expenses of the Horowhenua Pipe Band to ' the - contest in Napier 011 February 1. Commencing at 7 p.m. the two girls' marching teams, in conjunction with the pipe band, will give a demonstration of the slow mareh and a reverse counter-march from Cha.mberlain Street to Bath Street ■ and return, while at the conclusioii of this display the Levin Municipal jBand will be heard in a programme j of selected items. I At the conclusion, the bands and j teams will be the guests of the j association in the Regent ballroom, and the music for the flrst dance, a waltz, will be played by the Levin Municipal Band. The pipe band will eontribute an extra during the evening. Another attraction will be the Horowhenua waltzing championship, the prizes for which will 'be two silver cups donated by Messrs C. Munro and R. Murray, while arrangements are in hand for an expert to take charge of the judging of the championship. There will be the usual attractions such as mystery prizes, lucky spot, ete., and all those who intend to be present are assured of a bright and enjoyable time danc- - ing to music supplied by Roy Lester and his band. Free buses will run from Otaki, Foxton and Shannon and the association is making proparations to cater for a record crowd.
