PONY CLUB GYMKHANA
VARIED PROGRAMME STAGED AT- WAITARERE Though windy, the weather was fine on Sunday last for the Horowhenua Pony 'Club's first gynikhana at Waitarere Beach. A good crowd was present during the afternoon and there is no doubt that all enjoyed the varied programme, which commenced at 11 a.m. and continued until 4 p.m., with an adjournment for lunch at 12.30 p.m. Various trophies pre-j sented b.y"5* citizens of Levin were competed for, the results of the events being as folloks : — Maiden jump. — Alan Butt 1, Iv.an Wilton 2, John Procter 3. Shetland ponv jump. — Donald Murray' 1. ' Open jump. — Mickey Wilton 1, Mickey Preston 2, Alan Butt 3. Bending. — Twelve years and under: Roger Horn 1, Alan Rolston 2, Alan Butt 3. Thirteen years and over: Dudley Read 1, Ross Knight 2, Ross Arcus 3. Musical chairs. — Twelve years and under: Donald Murray 1, Roger Horn 2, John Procter 3. Thirteen years and over: Ross Knight 1, Ross Arcus 2, Dudley Read 3. Best boy or girl rider. — Twelve years and under: Alan Butt 1, Diana Marsh 2, Mickey Wilton 3. Thirteen years and over: Barry McLennan 1, Ross Arcus 2, Mickey Preston 3. Potato race. — Twelve years and under: John Procter 1, Mickey Wilton 2, Alan Rolston 3. Thirteen years and over: Barry McLennan 1, Ross Arcus 2, Ross Knight 3. Egg and spoon race. — Twelve years and under: Alan Rolston 1, Alan Butt 2, Diana Marsh 3. Thomson's paddock in Weraroa Road on Saturday next, January 4, commencing at 11 a.m.
