AOOKLANDi Dee, 30. No commei-t was made tonight by the national president of the Waterside Workers' Union, Mr, H. Barnes, on. the ultimatum presented to his union by the Prime. Minister. ""He said a meeting of his national executive might be called. The president of the Auckland Trades Councff and national vicepresident of the Waterside Union, Mr. A. Drennan, also remained silent -when asked to eomment on Mr. Fraser 's announcement, although an Auckland union official said that Mr. Fraser 's ultimatum had not come as a surprise. Ther'e was evidence that the rank and file were startled by the threat which could deprive them of many of the benefits gained in recent years.
