""He said a meeting of his national executive might be called. The president of the Auckland Trades Councff and national vicepresident of the Waterside Union, Mr. A. Drennan, also remained silent -when asked to eomment on Mr. Fraser 's announcement, although an Auckland union official said that Mr. Fraser 's ultimatum had not come as a surprise. Ther'e was evidence that the rank and file were startled by the threat which could deprive them of many of the benefits gained in recent years.
