Burglar in Doctor's Home
The home of Dr. R. Welton Hogg, Bellevue Road, Lower Hutt, was entered on Saturday evening and £12 in money stolen from a builtin safe in an upstairs bedroom, Maiuable jewellery also in the safe C'uuntouched. The theft was dis.ered when Dr. and Mrs. Welton igg returned aftef an evening at bridge with friends. Entry had been made by a drawing-room window. A desk in that room was ransacked. The door of the safe in the bedroom had been forced with a hatchet and gardening fork taken from a shed in the garden. The intruder had anparently been at great pafns to femove fingerprints from the walls and furniture but left behind him an article which the police believe will lead to his identification. Gold worth £04,000 disappeared on f'hristmas Kve from a iraia travelling to Pcrth from Meekatharra, a town on the Murchison goldlleld, 400 miles from Perlh.
