BOWLING
TOURNAMENT AT RAUMATI
A rinks tournament held at.,the Raumati South bowling green on Thursday proved very erijoyable, and good play was witnessed on a fine green in glorious weather. The hospitality of the Raumati Club was most marked, lady supporters being greatly in evidence in catering for visitors as well as the local members. The ladies taking a prominent part were Mesdames Gifford-Moore, Seaton, Shore, Moffatt, and Miss Thomson, while the president, Mr. Bromley, and the secretary, Mr. Stan Moffatt, were most attentive to their duties. Five games of ten heads were played, Backhouse being the winner of. beautiful trophies with five clearcut wins. Judd and Cummings won f our games each, Grey (Otaki) , Mullins, Luxton three each, Morrison, Pryor, Wallace two each, Oliver one, and Dorman and Orviss nil. Mr. Bromley ,°in presenting the trophies, congratulated the winners, and hoped that" many more such enjoyable games would be played. Miss Wa/d, of Palmerston North, was the successful winner of a competition held at Paraparaumu, organised by the Raumati Bowling Club.
OTAKI RAILWAY CLUB Playing in matches on the Otaki Raiiway Club's green A. D. and T. Webster defeated Booth and Balley in the pairs by 17 — 15. In the single Symonds beat Rich 23 — 14, and A. D. Webster beat Hannah 20 — 14. In the junior championship Connor beat Hart 20 — 15.
LADIES' CLUB It is probable that portion of the Otaki Raiiway Club's green will be placed at the disposal of the ladies who are anxious to play bowls in Otaki.
