— ♦ FURTHER STATISTTCAL FIGURES Details of a further group of industries covered by the halfyearly survey just completed have n'dW beeii released by'the National Employment Service. In the group covered there are 18 industries eomprising 198 units. The following figures show the position in the various groups, the figures in brackets indicating the vacancies as disclosed by the survey: — Town sawmilling and builders' woodwork 43 (4) males, 5 (nil) females; furniture, cabinetmaking and other woodwork 122 (3) males, 9 (nil) females; brick, tile, stoneware, pottery and glass 9 (5) males, 4 (nil) females; lime ana cement 52 (2) males, 3 (3) females; general engineering and metal working 279 (9) males, 32 (nil) females; machinery and machine tools and parts and electrical manufacture (including radios and washing machines) 107 (2) males, 12 (nil) females; repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles, manufacture of vehicles and cycles, manufacture oi instruments, docks, watches, jewellery • 435 ■ (29) males, 45 . (•!)• females. The above figures do not include working proprietbrs or part-time workers, totaljing in all 206 and 21 respectively.
