THIEVES STEAL MAIL BAGS

Received Wednesdav, 10.25 p.m. ADELATDK, Dec. 11, Christmas preseiits consigned from South Africa to people, in Australia and New Zealand, were stolen from mail bags in the hold of the Port Afacquarie which reached Port Adelaide on Aronday. The stolen goods, which comprised nylon stockings. wonien's and children 's wearing apparel, wonien's handliags. tobacco, cigarettes, cigars and the con tents of registered letters, were contained in 1.1 mail bags. Tlie whole consignment comprised 71 bags including 1() for Wellington, 15 for, Melbourne and 24 for Sydnev. It is believed Ihe stolen artieies are vuluod at many hundrcds of pounds.
