SMART DOUBLE ARREST

WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. Cool heacled tactics by a photo- . grapher and smart action by two detectives, led to the arrest of two young men found bebaving suspiciously in a Willis Street, Wellington, buiiding tonigbt. Wbile entering the Para Rubber Company's buiiding at about 6.30 p.m., Mr. W. Hall Raine, who occupies business rooms on the second floor, saw two men apparently closely studying photographs displayed on the lohby wall: They then descended to the first fioor where they continued to liang about. Mr. Raine kept out of their Sight and heard sounds like wood cracking. He then placed himself where he could see their movements in shadows on the wall. Telephoning the police, he returned -to his observation post. The detectives arrived in a few minutes hut the men had seemingly left the huilding. Mr. Raine was expiaining the circumstances to the detectives when one of them noticed that the office door of McCracken's Estate Agency was ajar. Detective-Sergeant Hogan suddenly fiung the door open whereupon two men hurst out of the room. Detective-Sergeant Hogan seized and pinned one oi them. The other, however, bolted down the stairs into Willis Street with Detective Ritchie in pursuit. He caught up with the fugitive in Mercer Street and arrested him. *
