Air Austin ( Pnited States) moved in Pnited Nalions sites committee, a reso lution to tlie ell'eet that the Assemb/y should declare itself this session in favour of a site 011 the eastern seaboard but should postpone the selection of the spccilie. site until the 1947 session. Aleanwhile sites iii Philadelphia, New York, Boston and any new location suggested on the east coast should be investigatcd by the headquarters committee. Air. Austin obviouslv had in mind a suggestion made dnring the Avcekend that Pnited Nations should build skyscraper lieadipiart ors in Ncav York eity similar to the Rockefeller centre. Air. Trygve IJe, intervening, said it would eost Pnited Nations 1,820,00(1 dollars to movc its staff and equipment to Pa 11 Francisco. Extra travelling costs for the secretariat and delegations was estimated at half a million dollars. The most specialised agencies altiliated with Pnited Nations had undertaken to establish headquarters at the samclilace as Pnited Nations but he did not believe it possible to persuade thein all to go to San Francisco. Air. Romolo (Philippines) said it would be a mistake to rule out San 'Pranci'sico, at 'Iehst 'until the e'a'st' c'dast site was found capable of obtaining the necessaiw majority in the Assemblv.
