OTAKI WINS HYAMS BOWL

MATCH WITH PARAPARAUMU Eight'rinks from the Otaki Club spent a most enjoyable day on the Paraparaumu Beaeh Club's green on Saturday, when games were Elayed for the coveted Hyams' towl, a handsome trophy which has been in the possession of the Paraparaumu Club for some considerable time, and which has been the means oi brmging the two cluDs into friendly rivalry. On Saturday, on a perfect green and in glorious weather, otaki emerged vicoorious oy five games to two, 174 points-to 134, a majority of 40. During the day afternoon utea was dispensed and appreciated". On the arrival of the Otaki players, the president of the Paraparaumu Club ■ (Mr. McCulloch) extended a welcom'e to them. He gaid that as his club had held the trophy so3 long, he hoped the Otaki Club would be victorious oi! this ; occasion. The results of games were as follows, Otaki skips being mentioned first in each instance: Rolfe 19, beat Hardham 13; Pike 16, lost to Petherick 18; Simcox 17, lost to Blythe 22; McGilligan 35, beat Ginger 8; Merwood 21, beat Batten 17; Wilson 19, lost to Davidson 22; Grey 23, beat Henderson 14; Mortori 24, beat Rickett 20. At the conclusion Mr. McCulloch congratulated the Otaki players on their success, and said his club would look forward with pleasure to again meeting the Otaki Club in acontest. The president of the Otaki Club i (Mr. W. Wilson) said his club was I naturally pleased to win the trophy. He complimented the Para- | paraumu Club on its excellent green and extended thanks for the enjoyable • time given his team mates. Paraparaumu Ladies' Games The Paraparaumu ladies indulged in friendly games on their green on Saturday, and some very fine >play was witnessed. There is now talk of a challenge being issued to the nale members. Railway Wins Tourney An Otaki Railway rink, competLng at the Hataitai tournament tast week, won all its games ahd Ihe honours. It consisted of Symonds, Booth, A. D. Webster and Lawrie.
