CHILD WELFARE WORK
PLUNKET SOCIETY WINS SHIELD DUNEDIN, Dec. 9. Cabled adviee has been reeeived from the National Baby Welfare Council, London, that the British Commonvvealth challenge shield eompetit'ion has been won by the Koyal New Zealand Society for the health of Women and Children (Plunket Society). The shield with a prize of 25 guineas was oli'ered for the best record jaf child welfare work carried out during the years 1939-44 inclusive and the competitiou was opcn to any committee, statutory or voluntary, in Australia, Canada, New Zealand. South Africa and Newfoundland. The report submitted bv. the Plunket Society was compiled by Dr. Heien Deem, niedical adviser, and Miss N. P. Fitzgibbon, forinef nursing adviser to the society. The report dealt with the growth of the society 'a work during the six-year pe'riod. .
