AUCKLAND, Dec. 9. A Rhodes scholar and one of fhe principal collaliorators in the develop ment of jet and gas turbine aero engines, Group-Captain G. E. Watt, K.A.F., A.F.C., has arrived by Tasman tiyingboat on an ofhcial mission to be followed by a period of leave. Gradu nting in civil engineering from Auck Jaiul and Canterlmry . Asked about tlie prospect of the present speed record being exceeded, Group-Captain Watt said the necessary engine powers were now availalile but there were various aerodynaniic probJems which would liave to be solved before they could travel mucli faster Asked if the liunian factor would limit the speed of an aircraft, he expressed the opinion tlni't pilots were standing up to speeds well and tliat all precaut ions were being taken, Group-Captain Watt will attend 0011ferences in Wellington on air develop ment malters, similar those held during his recent stay in Australia.
