— Press Association

Bv Telearavh-

' AUCKLAND, Dec. !). A suggestion that a huanui skeleton diseovered in a sand dunc on tho west coast about five miles north of lie.leusville 011 Hunday, might be the remains of Mrs. Mary Eileen Turner who vanished mysteriously the (lay after her wedding 011 July 11, 1942, was oflieially discounted by Ihe police tonight. Aeeompanied by two waterside workers who found the bones, Henior Detective P. Kearnev, of tlie Auckland Central Police, visited the seene today and was able from information at his disposal, to establish that they were not those of the missing woman. Whether tlie skeleton is that of a man or woman will not be ascertaiiiecl until ; it has been examined by medical qxperts. It was pointed out by tlie police that tlie locality in whicli the disco'very was made was once used by the Maoris as a burial ground and owing to tlie shifting nature of the sand dunes bones were often unearthed. After the wonian's wedding, her parents, Mrt and Mrs. W. Spargoj of'~ Henderson, received letters from Australia purporting to coihe from her liusband. Hubsequently her patents reported the matter to'the police. According to the patents the daughter was not the type to allow a long period to pass without communicating with her patents. The police investigation, which followed involved complex factors, ineluding a widespread searcli for the possible discovery of the woman 's body north of Auckland, where she had allegedly been witli her husband in a car.
