Personal Dr. R. S. R. Francis, superin^ tendent of the Sanatorium, has been visiting Otaki. Mrs. Morton.of Castlecliff, Wanganui, spent the weekend with relatives in Otaki. Mrs. Peare, for many years a resident of Otaki, with her two grandchildren, are at present visiting Otaki. The death has occurred at New Plymouth of Mr. Jack Pepper, fdr some years a well-known resident of Otaki. The late Mr. Peppe^ who was over 80 years of age, has many relatives in Otaki. The sudden death occurred at Poplar Avenue, Raumati South, on Saturday of Mr. 1*.. J. W. Tubbett, a well-known residem. An inquest was- held at Wellington. The deceased was 59 years of age, and ieaVes a widow and family to mourn their loss. Car Runs Off Road A car driven by Mr. C. H. Spender, of Tinakori Road, Wellington, ran off the. road about half-a-mile south of Manakau railway statibn at midnight on Saturday. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, although the driver and the passengers,, Mr. Collins, and Mrs. Davis, were considerabiy shaken and bruised. Sports at Otaki ua Wed'nesaay evening sports will be held on the Otaki Domain, when the main attraction wiii be the appearance of the girls' marching teams, a feature which should attract a large crowd. Both at Levin and Shannon the marching teams have been watched by large numbers, and generous donations have been made. On this occasion a colleetion only will be taken up to defray expenses. Apart from the marching there will be the usual fine programme of cycling and running events, and also races for the children. The Otaki Brass Band will be in attendance.
