Mrs. Hornsby and her sister, Miss Telford, gave a delightful afternoon tea party at her home "Wharemauku," Raumati South, to the members of the Women's Institute committee. Miss Peggy Bain was entertained in the Anglican school room to a kitchen party in honour of her approaching marriage. She was the recipieht of many useful gifts and good wishes for her future happiness. The Women's Division of Federated Fkrmers celebrated its December meeting with a . Christmas party in the Anglican Hall. ine proceedings opened with the division song and aspirations. Mrs. Harris (presidentj welcomea qll present a'nd wished them the compliments of the season. A competition for the best cake frill for a Christmas cake was won by Mrs. Drewitt. Ap amusing competition, that of finding the missing parts of pictures, was enjoyed by all, as were the other competitions.. Results were:.— Penny competition: Mrs. Cornor. •. Best fiower: Miss Hansen 1, Mrs. Udy 2, Mrs. Drewitt 3. Christmas carols were sung by all, accompanied by Miss Hansen at the piano. . All at the party both cave and received a small Christmas gift. Mrs. Fitchett was in charge of the saies table and did brisk business. Afternoon tea was -.erved and the party concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. Captain Hornsby, who has been with his regiment in Burma and India, is expected home in time for Christmas. When he is demobilised he will be returning to Cambridge to continue his studies.
